Interesting narrative in an unsettling setting. Puzzles were interesting and felt complex enough that I felt satisfied to complete them but not so difficult that I ever thought about resorting to a guide. Not really too much to say here, just pretty solid all around, good pick for Game Club!
First playthrough was a somewhat mild 4, companion short film bumped it up to a clear 4 and the replay to find all the hidden stuff bumped it up to a 4½ which I will simply round up to 5 stars. Pairing a game and movie like this was such a good idea. Definitely my type of game with clever puzzles and fun secrets hunting.
Good Puzzles and Visuals, bad mood and voicelines.
While I enjoy puzzle games a lot this one didn't grasp me as much as I had hoped. Some of the puzzles I found interesting, if not well implemented like the globe (as it made you land on an island while sailing). Some of the puzzles were quite finicky, specifically the ones that were done with the paper as it was trial and error of it would line up how the game wanted you to. I don't really understand where the story was trying to go, but the game didn't grab me (and didn't really give much of a story to care about) to want to continue with the series and find out the mystery.
I love puzzle games and thought this would be very enjoyable. Sadly I found the puzzles lacking at moments but also annoyingly bizarre at moments as they can make absolutely no sense which ruins the investigative element of the game entirely. Story is confusing and makes no sense at all. I have got a strong feeling that you needed to have played previous entires in the series to understand it which isn't brilliant when it's supposed to be understandable as to what is going on. Even after clearing all puzzles and achievements from episode 1 the story makes no sense at all which sadly has ruined it a lot. Anyone that has played the previous ones probably had a fantastic time but anyone jumping in here. Sadly I would not bother as it just comes across as confusing nonsense. Will not be buying episode 2 sadly. P.S. the acting is dreadful.
The puzzles are all creative and contribute to the themes and narrative of the game. Each puzzle feels fresh, never repetitive. Love the surreal visuals and atmosphere. Looking forward to playing more from these devs.
I really liked it. Having played many puzzle games (especially escape room ones) lately where one could progress simply from pressing around randomly until it worked, this one was a nice change of pace. While that method worked for a lot of it, there were times where one is *forced* to think of what one does to get the next clue. The "Story", if one can call it that, fits well with the type of game. It's not meant to be more than a framework mystery, like many escape rooms out there. It's not important to the game beyond giving a bit of context for why some puzzles are solved the way they are.
Creepy and super well made puzzle room escape game. Got hella scared at least once. Would pet the crow man.
Didn't really feel grabbed by this one. I spent most of the first portion of the game thinking about how this would be more interesting if it was an actual escape room. I think I need the tacticle and team elements that I enjoy so much when doing these with friends. Should really watch the accompanying movie and see if that does anything for me.
The phone puzzle wouldn't spin properly on mouse and I was getting TILTED. It was okay and I only had to get puzzle answers from Whimsicalish like twice.
It was certainly a puzzle game. I liked the blend of the game graphics and acting.
